Anurag Kashyap goes ahead with 'Bombay Velvet' sans Aamir

The director, Anurag Kashyap who had put his dream project ‘Bombay Velvet’ on hold for Aamir Khan, has decided to go ahead with the project minus Aamir Khan.

A year ago Anurag Kashyap had declared that his most ambitious project till date would star Aamir Khan. He even went on to say that he wouldn’t make the movie without Aamir Khan.

But now the Udaan director has decided he has waited long enough and will start the project without Aamir.

"I am going ahead with Bombay Velvet without Aamir. He is a very busy man and I have waited long enough. I don't even know if he wants to do the film," says the director.

The movie is based on the book ‘Mumbai Fables’ that focuses on the city’s literary and architectural history. Therefore, the movie will be set in the 60’s.

"There is every chance that the audience would see the queen's necklace with an absolutely clear skyline, minus all the skyscrapers," adds the director.

The budget of movie is expected to be around Rs.15-17 crores, which makes this movie Anurag Kashyap’s most expensive venture yet.

"Studio 18 is producing the film and money is not an issue here," he clarifies quickly.

The movie will have Naseeruddin Shah, John Abraham and Kay Kay Menon. The rest of the cast is yet to be decided and the movie will go on floors in 2012.
