The actress Aishwarya Rai seems very keen to put an end to the controversies surrounding her and Madhur Bhandarkar’s movie ‘Heroine’.
Aishwarya Rai who was cast as the lead actress in the movie was dropped when Amitabh Bachchan revealed that she was pregnant. Aishwarya Rai had shot for 10 days before the announcement and was paid for the same.
But now Aishwarya Rai has returned the amount she was paid and also sent a legal notice to Madhur Bhandarkar and UTV production house asking them to not use the footage and stills she shot for the film earlier.
“Ash is fed up of the whole thing. She’s been ethical and professional about the matter. But, considering the way things ended on a sour note with Bhandarkar, she does not want him to use any of the stills or scenes that she had already shot at any point in the future,” said a source.
Both UTV production house and Aishwarya Rai’s spokesperson have confirmed the actress sending back the cheque.
“We never asked for the money but we did receive a cheque of Rs 22.5 lakh,” said an official from UTV production house.
“It was just a token amount that she had got from UTV. She thought it was fair to return it, even though they insisted that she should keep it, considering she had shot for so many days,” said Aishwarya’s spokesperson though not revealing the amount.
Madhur Bhandarkar who had earlier accused Aishwarya for hiding her pregnancy and also for shelving his dream project now seems to have a change of heart.
“It was a professional move. The eight days that Aishwarya shot the film cost a lot of money and there were big losses incurred after the film was stalled,” said a source close to Bhandarkar and also added that the director thought it was a good gesture.
Madhur Bhandarkar is now planning on reviving the project with Kareena Kapoor who is supposedly charging a bomb for the same.
