After her much talked about ‘Aarakshan’ fared ok in the box office, the actress Deepika Padukone is now looking forward to her 4 forthcoming movies.
Deepika Padukone had her hands full at this moment with 4 movies – Desi Boyz features John Abraham and Akshay Kumar, Cocktail with Saif Ali Khan, Rana – with Rajinikanth and Race 2 with Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham, Anil Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha.
“It was a lot of fun shooting for Desi Boyz. I’ve finished shooting for the film. In fact, the film’s due for release this October 25. The film saw three of us (Akshay Kumar, John Abraham and me) hanging out together for most of the time. Akshay and John are roommates, while I play John’s girlfriend,” says Deepika Padukone when asked about her movies Desi Boyz which will release first.
Talking about her co-star John Abraham Deepika says, “He’s a really good co-star to work with. We had a great time on the sets, especially during our outdoor schedules inLondon. While it is essentially a comedy, the romance is an intrinsic part of the story. So, I loved my role in the film as well. I’m looking forward to getting together with the team again during the promotions.”
Deepika who has already done ‘Love Aaj Kal’ and ‘Aarakshan’ with Saif Ali Khan will again be working with him in ‘Cocktail’ and ‘Race 2’.
“We’ve done Love Aaj Kal, which was a big hit. People liked our pair obviously, which was why we’ve been cast together by other makers. We’ve just seen the release of Aarakshan and we have two more films lined up. So people will have to deal with more of us,” she says.
Replying to Saif Ali Khan’s comment that Deepika Padukone was a is a great co-star and he is comfortable working with her she says, “He’s a great person to work with. He’s intelligent, witty and has a great sense of humor. So obviously, I’m also quite at ease on the sets and always look forward to working alongside him, with the same sentiments.”
Deepika also added that she was eagerly looking forward to working in ‘Race 2’.
“I’ve waited to do a role like the one in Race 2 for a while. It involves a lot of glamour and I’m hoping to even do some action. Abbas-Mastan have their signature style in their films and I loved Race. It isn’t the typical romance that one sees here,” says Deepika.
Deepika who recently visited a saloon to try new hair styles for the movies says, “I loved working with Adhuna in Karthik Calling Karthik. We tried out a whole range of different looks with short hair. I wasn’t too convinced about trying out a wig for short hair as at some point in the film, the audience does get to know that it’s just a helmet on top and not a real hairdo. This was the most difficult also, since I was breaking away from how people perceive me.”
“The audience doesn’t want too much of disparity between the on-screen and off-screen image of an actor. A Shah Rukh or a Salman has to comply with the fans’ perception of how they want them to be. Similarly, they find it hard to accept me with shorter hair,” she adds.
Talking more about her hair style she says, “It does get tough to go in for a look or style that I want. For, continuity and other issues demand us to stick to the looks of out films’ characters. We cannot go in for a hair streak or cut of our choice. In those ways we don’t really have much say when it comes to sporting a look that we want to.”
“Eventually, when the character that we portray ends up being well-received, it makes all that worth it. It ends up being rewarding every single time,” she concludes.
