Abhay Deol has been busy attending international events as guest of honor and also carving a niche for himself internationally.
Abhay Deol has been the only actor from Bollywood to get invited to Toronto, New York and Shanghai International Film Festivals. Out of all the 3 events the one in Shanghai caught everyone’s attention as Abhay Deol was to walk the red carpet along side none other than Scarlett Johansson.
Abhay Deol who shared dinner with the gorgeous actress has nothing but praise for her.
“She’s extremely gracious and lovely. I had dinner with her and meeting her was an absolutely great experience. She is warm and friendly,” he said.
“She was also tired and jet-legged, but still willing to talk about her two trips toIndiaand the chef with whom she had once cooked at home. She’s a superstar who doesn’t act like one. She’s friendly, gracious and easy to converse with,” he added.
Abhay Deol thinks Scarlett Johansson’s 'Prestige' (2006) and 'Lost In Translation' (2003) are two her bets movies till date.
Abhay Deol who was invited to Diner Du Siecle (Dinner of the Century) in Shanghai because of his movie ‘Shanghai’ by Dibakar Banerjee is upbeat about his movie.
“It’s a political dark comedy laced with his brand of dry, below-the-belt humour. The key to his success is that he doesn’t get preachy. When I read the script, I laughed and laughed, and he found that awesome”, he said.
“I’m dying to see the film. If in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, I was a young South Mumbai industrialist, in Shanghai, I’m a close-to-40 South Indian IAS officer.Shanghai’s been lucky for me once, I hope it is again,” he added.
When about him being a part of ‘Ek Chalis Ki Last Local’ sequel Abhay said, “I do not know where this has come from. No one has approached me for anything. It is a bit silly because that way anyone can say anything. Tomorrow I could say that I am doing a film with XYZ but there has to be some truth to it. It’s stupid to talk about such things. In any case, I haven’t been approached and even if they do, I frankly have no time to do it.”
Abhay also denied the rumors of his engagement to his girl friend Preeti Desai.
“My mother once read that I had got engaged and called up my sister (as I was traveling) to check if it was true. Now, they are getting used to it. But parents being parents, they do want me to settle down but there is no pressure. They know me pretty well and let me live my life,” he concluded.
