The filmmaker Karan Johar who had earlier planned to release his movie ‘Agneepath’ on 13th January 2012 has now postponed the release to Republic Day.
"'Agneepath' is now releasing on the 26th of January, 2012....," Johar posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
The main reason for the postponement of the release is that Karan Johar wanted to avoid the clash with Aamir Khan’s ‘Dhuan’. Reema Kagti's ‘Dhaun’ features Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherji in the lead roles.
“I would never have opened with Aamir’s film. He is a humongous star and, along with co-producers Farhan (Akhtar) and Riteish (Sidhwani), a friend of mine. In fact, it was Riteish who suggested we take advantage of the national holiday that falls on Thursday, making it a four-day weekend. I immediately grabbed the opportunity,” says Karan.
That means that ‘Agneepath’ will compete with Ajay Devgn’s action thriller ‘Teez’ at the box office.
‘Agneepath’ features Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra and Sanjay Dutt as main characters, while Rishi Kapoor plays a crucial role.
Karan Johar will be paying tribute to his dad Yash Johar with this remake.
