
The actress Deepika Padukone, who has played Badminton at State level, has been approached by Sports Development Corporation (SDC) for a motivational campaign during the 2012 London Olympics.
"My first love continues to be sports and I would love to do any campaign that encourages people to take up sports in our country," Deepika Padukone said in a statement.
Deepika Padukone’s father Prakash Padukone is a veteran badminton players and Deepika herself has said on many occasions that if modeling and acting hadn’t come her way she would have been a badminton player.
"Yes, she has been approached. In all meetings, the board has been saying that she is the only one they would like do it because she has a very strong bond with sports," said an official spokesperson from Sports Development Corporation, the board promoting Olympics.
"When we are looking for a celebrity to promote sports, we need people to believe that if this person can achieve so much at such a young age, so can we. In the case of Deepika, she is a true young achiever. She has achieved so much at such a young age," they added.
The actress is also a board member of the Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ), an organization that is dedicated to training Indian athletes for the prestigious competition next year.
