IFFI Director Shankar Mohan revealed that Shah Rukh Khan would be inaugurating the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, ten-day extravaganza on November 23 at Ravindra Bhavan auditorium in Margao.
Mohan said that the Portuguese film 'The Consul of Bordeaux' would raise the curtains of the film festival. He added that the reason that particular movie to be chosen was that it went well with the theme of the festival 'the whole world is one family'.
The movie is directed by Manuel Gonzales and runs for 90 minutes. The movie showcases story of life of Portuguese consul general Aristides de Sousa Mendes inBordeaux,France, who helped thousands of Jewish refugees to extricate themselves fromFrance, after Hitler's armed forces invaded Belgium and the Netherlands in May 1940.
The festival, which was earlier held by Directorate of Film Festival (DFF), will now be held by the newly established IFFI Directorate--under the Union Information and Broadcasting.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni will be the Guest of Honour for the inaugural function. The guest for the concluding ceremony hasn’t been finalized yet.
Mohan said that more than 8,000 delegates from across the globe are expected to participate in the event.
