After Shah Rukh Khan inaugurated the 42nd Indian International Film Festival, it was turn of Madhuri Dixit to open the Indian Panorama at the 42nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

The event kick started with the screening of non-feature Hindi film 'Adwait Sangeet' by Makarand Brahme. It also featured the Malayalam movie ‘Urmi’ by Santhosh Sivan.

The honoree guest list also included Jackie Shroff, Shri Uday Kumar Varma, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Govt. of India; Shri SK Shrivastava, Chief Secretary, Government of Goa; Shri Shankar Mohan, Director, IFFI along with a host of other dignitaries like Santosh Sivan (director of Urumi), Makarand Brahme (director of Adwait Sangeet) amongst others.

"I am very honored to be here. I thank the Indian and Goa govt for inviting me.Goa is a wonderful place and it is a great idea to hold IFFI here. People come here to exchange ideas and put the same life into different perspectives. It's filmmakers like you who broaden our horizon as actors, make us learn and help us grow. It helps me give something new when I perform the next time," she said.

"IFFI is a great place to bring in cinematic minds and offer them a platform to interact and bring out the best in cinema. I have myself learnt a lot from these experiences which I have tried to present in my individual works,” she added.

She also said that Goa was the perfect place to host IFFI.

"Goa in itself is a lovely place to be in and hosting IFFI in here adds to the charm of the place. Offering a relaxed atmosphere for film practitioners to interact amongst themselves, IFFI andGoahas been the best example of creative projection which is for sure to place Indian cinema on the larger global scene,” she said.

She added that Goa was one of her favorite places and she cherishes her visits to the place.

“Goa is such a sunny place. I have always cherished my visit here. This is my third visit to the place with my family and I can say 'Dekha hai teesri baar, Goa ke aankhon mein pyar' -although it sounds very filmy!” she concluded.
