Music Composer AR Rahman has been denied permission to perform at Mehtab Bagh in Agra, which has a spectacular view of the Taj Mahal in the backdrop.

Rahman was keen on performing a song from his upcoming movie ‘Ek Deewana Tha’ at the heritage site. But the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) denied the permission citing the damage done to the place during the recent shooting of ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ movie.

The Archaeological Survey of India is not happy with the way the historic site has been treated during the shootings and performance and has decided to be very strict in giving shooting/performance permissions.

“The permission has been denied due to the damages done (earlier). But the music launch will happen at Lawns of Taj Khema, eastern gate of Taj Mahal tomorrow afternoon,” said a source to a daily.

“Ek Deewana Tha”, remake Tamil super-hit film Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya., is a romantic drama starring Prateik Babbar and Amy Jackson. The movie is directed by Gautam Menon, who is the director of Tamil version as well.

The movie is slated to release on January 13, 2012.
