Bollywood actress Dia Mirza was fined on Saturday by Mumbai customs for carrying undeclared luxury goods like cosmetics and expensive purses.
The actress, who returned from Bangkok by a Thai Airways flight around 2:30 AM on Saturday, was stopped by Mumbai Customs while crossing the green channel.
On checking her baggage actress was found to be carrying goods like cosmetics and branded purses valued at around Rs.200,000, which were previously not declared.
The actress though claimed ignorance about the declaration rules and readily payed up a penalty of Rs.150,000.
The actress though later tweeted that she wasn’t stopped by customs.
“For those that are running unverified news about me please be informed that I was not questioned by customs for undeclared jewellery. False,” she tweeted.
Last year, Bollywood actresses Bipasha Basu and Minissha Lamba were similarly hauled up by the customs for carrying undeclared goods.
