After the immense success of her debut movie ‘Dabangg’, which released on Eid, Sonakshi Sinha wants to repeat the same by releasing her upcoming movie ‘Lootera’ featuring Ranveer Singh also on Eid.
“Sonakshi has asked producers Ekta Kapoor and Vikas Bahl to get an Eid release date for Lootera. She feels it's an auspicious date and is insisting they lock it for her film with Ranveer Singh,” said a source to a leading daily.
But as Salman Khan has already locked Eid for the release of his movie ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ also featuring Katrina Kaif, the makers have decided to release the movie on Bakri Eid (October 26th) instead.
“Lootera is set to release on October 26, which is Bakri Eid. And looks like an extremely good day to release the film. Sonakshi Sinha had an outing last year for 'Dabangg' on Eid,” producer Vikas Bahl confirmed.
“There was no way Sonakshi would want to have a release the same date as Salman. It would not only affect the box-office performance of Lootera but also send out a wrong signal. With both the films securing Eid dates, the problem has been sorted,” the source added.
'Lootera' a classic love story set in the 1950s featuring Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha in lead. The film is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane of 'Udaan' fame.
