Filmmakers Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Behl and Vikramaditya Motwane, who recently joined hands to form a production house ‘Phantom’, bought the rights of Tollywood’s blockbuster hit ‘Magadheera’.
The filmmaker trio was keen on roping in ‘Delhi Belly’ director Abhinay Deo to direct the movie. But the director has turned down the offer.
“I felt that this is not the kind of film that I want to make at this point of time. Thought it has been a blockbuster, my mind is in a different zone and not prepared for such a big scale project,” said Abhinay Deo to a leading daily.
The movie is an epic romantic drama and starred Ram Charan Teja in the original. It was earlier rumored that Ranbir Kapoor would be playing the lead role but finally the filmmakers have signed in Ranveer Singh as the main lead.
Abhay Deo, who has received ‘Best Debut Director’ Filmfare Award, is working on the script of his next project.
So like his first movie will his second be also under Aamir Khan Productions?
“It’s not with Aamir Khan Productions. Aamir has his hands full at this moment. I will approach the actors once the script is final,” he said.
