Unlike Madhur Bhandarkar, Rajkumar Santoshi wasn’t dejected by Aishwarya Rai’s pregnancy. He had gallantly accepted the news and wished the couple good luck.
But recently the filmamker showed up on Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai doorstep and asked the signing amount of his movie ‘Ladies and Gentlemen’ back.
The filmmaker had signed both Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai for his movie ‘Ladies and Gentlemen’ and paid them Rs. 25 lakhs each as the signing amount. The movie was to go on floors in July 2011 but as Aishwarya Rai announced her pregnancy at the same time, the movie never went on floors.
Abhishek Bachchan wasn’t amused with Rajkumar Santoshi showing at his doorstep but paid back the producer immediately.
The producer confirmed that he received Rs.50 lakhs back but hoped to work with the couple soon.
“But I will make a new film with them, perhaps next year,” he said.
When Aishwarya Rai revealed she was pregnant, Santoshi was very understanding and said, “The fact that Aishwarya and Abhishek are going to be parents is far more important than my film. The role will no longer suit her.”
But now the producer has decided to shelve the movie all together.
