‘Aankhen’, produced by Gaurang Doshi, was one of the biggest hits of 2002. The heist film was about three blind men who rob a bank.
“We have been working on this idea of a sequel since quite some time. The first part of the film had two endings --one for the Indian market and the other for the overseas audience. The three protagonists in the film would remain blind,” said Gaurang to PTI.
The original movie starred Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal, Paresh Rawal and Sushmita Sen. But the sequel will only star Amitabh Bachchan, as reports suggest that Gaurang had a fall out with other members of the cast.
Apparently, Akshay and Gaurang had a huge showdown due to monetary issues. Neither Arjun Rampal nor Sushmita Sen were happy with the fact that their romantic song was edited out of the movie.
Along with the new cast, the movie will also have a new director, as Gaurang and Vipul Shah, who directed the original movie, had a huge fall out during the shooting of the movie.
“There will be a new cast except for Amitabh Bachchan. We are on the verge of finalizing things and would make an announcement soon,” confirmed the producer.
The movie will be shot in India, Canada as well as England.
The movie will go on floors soon and will release early next year.
