If all goes according to plan, actress Rani Mukerji will star in Paan Singh Tomar director Tigmanshu Dhulia's next movie.
The movie is a periodic drama based on the life of Begum Samru, who started off as a nautch girl in 18th century India, eventually becoming the ruler of Sardhana.
“Last week, Tigmanshu had a long meeting with Rani at her office in Juhu. She loved the role and agreed in principle,” said a source to a daily.
The director is of an opinion that Rani Mukerji is perfect for the role of Begum Samru.
“The role is tailor made for Rani. Tigmanshu wanted someone who can hold the film on her own,” said the source.
Rani Mukerji is also impressed with the director’s style of filmmaking, who has made movies like ‘Haasil', ‘Charas’ and ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster’.
“Rani loves Tigmanshu's style of filmmaking. He is soon going to go for a recce,” the source concluded.
The director’s recent release ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ staring Irrfan Khan has earned not only critical acclaim but went on to become a blockbuster hit.
