Deepika Padukone’s upcoming movie ‘Cocktail’ trailer released a few days ago. Even though the promos have created quite a buzz and are being appreciated by one and all, the comparisons between ‘Cocktail’ and ‘Life Aaj Kal’, in which she stars opposite Saif Ali Khan, have been doing rounds.
“The minute people see me and Saif together, it reminds them of 'Love Aaj Kal', but 'Cocktail' is a different film. It is written by Imtiaz and directed by Homi Adjania,” she said to a daily.
“The film is a love story but it is also about friendship, betrayal, fun, trust... So I think in terms of the film it is very different from 'Love Aaj Kal',” she added.
Deepika Padukone is glad with the response the promos of the movie have created.
“The promo has been released two days back and the response has been fantastic. I am glad that people have liked it,” she said.
When asked about her role in the movie she said, “I play Veronica, someone who is self assured, confident about life and the way she conducts herself.”
The actress revealed that she was offered both roles of Veronica (played by her) and Meera (played by debutant Diana Penty) but Deepika chose Veronica as she wanted to challenge herself.
“Producer Dinesh Vijay was kind enough to offer me both the roles and asked me to choose the one I would like to play. I took it as a challenge,” she said.
“Even Imtiaz suggested that Meera from 'Love Aaj Kal' is so similar to the other character of this film so it would be interesting for me to play Veronica. The role has been challenging for me,” she concluded.
The movie directed by Homi Adjania is set to release on July 13.
