Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha starrer ‘Rowdy Rathore’, directed by choreographer turned director Prabhu Deva, is all set to break box-office records.

This is the biggest opening actor Akshay Kumar ever had in his career with the movie collecting in Rs 15.10 crore on the very first day. The movie continued its good business on the weekends raking in Rs 14.7 crore on Saturday and Rs 18.5 crore on Sunday.

The total collection of the movie is Rs 48.3 crore India net, which means the movie left behind Salman Khan’s ‘Dabangg’ movie collection of Rs 48 crore on the opening weekend.

With the current track the movie seems to all set to enter Rs.100 crores club, which even trade analyst and famous critic Taran Adarsh feels.

“Rowdy Rathore Fri 15.1 cr, Sat 14.7 cr, Sun 18.5 cr, Mon 9.5 cr +. Total: 57.8 cr + nett. STUPENDOUS!” tweeted Taran Adarsh.

Mumbai-based distributor Rajesh Thadani feels that the movie’s masala is the main reason for the movie’s success.

“A lot of things have worked for the film, like the timing, the set up, Prabhu Deva's direction and the entire masala that has been spread evenly over the film,” he said.

“The film has got the biggest possible opening for the year after Agneepath, if you count just three day weekend collection. And mind you Agneepath released on a national holiday. The film is going strong on Monday as well, be it at multiplexes or at single screens,” he added.

Delhi-based distributor Sanjay Ghai said that the movie was already a blockbuster hit.

“The film has entered the league of Dabangg and 3 Idiots. It is a sure shot entry into the Rs 100 crore club and is already declared to be a blockbuster,” he said.

Exhibitors Girish Wankhede is of an opinion that Akshay Kumar’s ‘Housefull 2’s’ success was behind ‘Rowdy Rathore’s’ success.

“Normally Akshay's films don't take a major opening. But the success of Housefull 2 gave Rowdy Rathore a push. The film opened with 60 per cent occupancy on Friday and by the end of the week, through major word of mouth, it reached 80 per cent. The film has a great repeat value,” he said.

The trade experts also that the release of ‘Shanghai’ this week wont have any impact on success of ‘Rowdy Rathore’ as the movie is more for the masses while ‘Shanghai’ is for classes and will work only in multiplexes.

If Rowdy Rathore does manage to hit Rs. 100 crores then this will be Akshay Kumar’s and Sonakshi Sinha’s second entry in 100 crore club.
