The Indian film industry is gearing up to celebrate completing 100 years.
The family that has served the Indian film Industry is none other than the Kapoor family, who has been involved with Indian movies for 80 years now.
And this fact makes Rishi Kapoor proud of his roots.
“Indian cinema is completing 100 years and I am proud to say that my family has been part of the industry for 80 years, starting from Prithviraj Kapoor, to Shammi Kapoor and Raj Kapoor. Then me and Randhir and now our kids Ranbir, Kareena and Karisma. Hope our family continues to be part of it,” said Rishi Kapoor to a daily.
The first Kapoor to act in Indian movies was Prithviraj Kapoor. Then his sons Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor entered the film industry. Each of the brothers was successful in their own way and delivered few of Bollywood’s most memorable movies.
Later it was Raj Kapoor’s sons Randhir Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor who carried on the family legacy. Even though their younger brother Rajiv Kapoor acted in few movies, he wasn’t able to carve a niche for himself like his brothers.
Randhir Kapoor and Babita Kapoor’ daughter Karisma Kapoor was the fourth generation of Kapoor’s to enter the industry. Few years later she was followed by her sister Kareena Kapoor. Ranbir Kapoor, son of Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, is the latest Kapoor entry in Bollywood.
