First Superstar of Indian Cinema Rajesh Khanna passes away

The first superstar of Indian Cinema passed away on afternoon of Wednesday after prolonged illness. He was 69.

The actor breathed his last breath in presence of his wife Dimple Kapadia, daughter Twinkle and Rinkie Khanna, son in law Akshay Kumar, his grand children and very close relatives.

His funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 11 AM in Mumbai.

The health of the actor had been deteriorating for past few months. The actor in month of April was admitted in hospital for over exhaustion. He was later released and was taken care by his wife Dimple Kapadia and youngest daughter Rinkie Khanna.

In the last week of June the actor was again admitted in Lilavati hospital as he had stopped intake of food. He was kept under observation for few days and was released on 8 July. But just after a week from discharge he was readmitted to hospital on July 15.

The actor was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday but due to extreme weakness and low blood pressure, the actor was on ventilator since last night.

Rajesh Khanna made his debut with ‘Aakhri Khat’ in 1966. He is the only actor in Indian Cinema to deliver 15 consecutive solo hits. His movies like ‘Anand’, ‘Aradhana’, ‘Kati Patang’, ‘Safar’, ‘Amar Prem’, ‘Bawaarchi’, ‘Namak Haram’, and ‘Mere Jeevan Saathi’ are considered to be among few of best Bollywood movies ever made.

The actor, who was born as Jatin Khanna, was called belovedly as Kaka by his fans. With tremendous achievements at the box-office he earned the title of ‘First Superstar of Indian Cinema’.

He was last seen in Havel fan’s commercial directed by R. Balki.
