Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, who often interacts with his fans through his blog and Twitter, has now joined Facebook to reach out further to his fans.

The Superstar’s Facebook page was revealed yesterday and within an hour the actor had over 8 Lakh likes.

During the launch of the page the actor said that Facebook was a platform where he would share his upcoming movies, personal videos and exclusive pictures from his private collection.

“Facebook needs no introduction and I feel that my official Facebook fan page was long overdue. Facebook is a powerful tool that helps bring people together and allows us to embrace being a part of a larger community,” said Amitabh Bachchan while launching his page.

“I have been encouraged by the overwhelming reception to my tumblr blog, and this is another avenue to reach out to my fans, not only in India, but globally,” he added.

The actor opened the account with a video of himself telling his fans that the reason he joined Facebook was to get closer to them.

“I am now on Facebook.... Year after year, month after month, day after day, we just keep coming closer to each other. Lovely to have you here and we shall be seeing each other and you will be getting to know more about me and my daily activities through this wonderful medium,” he said.

As of now the actor has 1,138,750 likes on his page.
