Recently producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced that he would be producing a movie based on life of Indian woman boxer and Olympic bronze medalist Mary Kom.
Even though some actress will be playing the role of Mary Kom in the movie, Mary Kom said that she would like to do a small cameo in the movie.
“I would love to do a small role in the film. Maybe like that of the old lady from Titanic who comes back to tell her tale,” said Mary Kom to Mid Day.
Who will play Mary Kom on big screen hasn’t yet been decided but the makers are keen on casting a new face rather than an ‘A’ list actress. The actress cast in the role has a tough task ahead of her as she will have to train four months alongside Mary Kom to learn boxing and get the postures right.
The movie will be directed by art director of 'Black' and 'Saawariya', Omang Kumar. It was Omang Kumar, who wanted his debut movie to be on life of Mary Kom and hence approached Sanjay Leela Bhansali with the idea. The filmmaker was so impressed with the idea that he immediately got on board and agreed to produce it.
