Just yesterday Prakash Jha won a court battle against the Birlas. But today the filmmaker lost a court battle with shoe company Bata.
Both Birla and Bata had raised objections over Prakash Jha’s controversial song ‘Mehangai’ from his upcoming movie ‘Chakravyuh’. The line ‘Birla Ho Ya Tata, Ambani Ho Ya Bata, Sabne Apne Chakkar Mein Desh Ko Hai Kata’ came under scrutiny from both the companies.
While Birlas lost their case against the filmmaker, the shoe manufacturing company Bata, which had also filed a defamation case against Jha for the offensive song, has won the case in its favor. The Delhi High Court has directed Jha to refrain from using or airing the song 'Mehangai' till the word Bata is removed.
Filmmaker Prakash Jha on the other hand maintains that the use of these names in the song is symbolic and is not meant to hurt or disrespect any company or an individual.
‘Chakravyuh’ that stars Arjun Rampal, Abhay Deol and Esha Gupta in lead roles is a strong, emotional story in the backdrop of the Naxal problem.
The movie will release on October 24.
