Releasing a movie on a holiday and thus ensuing a long weekend and improving the movie’s box-office collections is the current trend set by Bollywood’s six big stars – Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Hrithik Roshan.
The rising star of Bollywood, Ranbir Kapoor, whose recent movie ‘Barfi’ reached the magical 100 Crores mark, is following the footsteps of his seniors and will release his eagerly anticipated movie ‘Besharam’ on Gandhi Jayanti next year.
“With one quick stroke, Ranbir has announced his arrival in the big league. He is now very close to the Top-6 and it is a matter of time that he makes an entry there. The confidence shown by industry to allow him a much cherished release spot is a clear indication of that,” said a source to Bollywood Hungama.
With the movie releasing on October 2, 2013, which is a Wednesday, Ranbir Kapoor is presenting himself with the luxury of a 9 day long weekend.
“Well, he has earned it. If an offbeat film of his like ‘Barfi!’ can release on a regular day and still do a business of over 100 crores, it is just right that an out and out commercial film of his like ‘Besharam’ gets its due standing. Also, let's not forget that this would also be Abhinav Kashyap’s second film almost three years after ‘Dabangg’. It has to be special,” said a close associate.
Along with Ranbir Kapoor ‘Besharam’ stars Ranbir Kapoor’s parents Rishi and Neetu Kapoor and Pallavi Sharda.
In ‘Besharam’ Ranbir Kapoor plays a con artist, while Rishi and Neetu Kapoor play cops who purse Ranbir Kapoor.
