Ranbir Kapoor, who has played positive roles in all of his movies, said that he is keen on playing the role of a villain.
“I want to play the role of a villain. I like Mogambo. There is something really exciting about villains... they have beautiful girls around them every time, have lots of money and all the luxuries," said Ranbir Kapoor to PTI.
“Villains have the best life... I really want to play a bad guy. But the only thing is they have to get beaten up by the hero in the end...but then it is ok," he added.
The current trend in Bollywood is remaking movies, be it movies from down South or Bollywood classics itself. While many stars like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Hrithik Roshan, and Salman Khan have been a part of such remakes, Ranbir Kapoor said that he never wants to star in a remake.
“I believe today times are changing in our industry and filmmakers are coming up with interesting subjects. So I feel why do something which has already been done by someone... why not do something new and different. I don't believe in remakes," he said.
“I don't think I would be able to do justice if I become a part of any of my dad's or Mr Amitabh Bachchan's remake films. I won't be able to do what they did,” he added.
Ranbir Kapoor has a great 2012 with his movie ‘Barfi!’ becoming not only one of the biggest hits of the year but also being chosen as India’s official entry to the Academy Awards to be held this February. Unfortunately, the movie failed to make it to the short list.
2013 too promising to be a great year for Ranbir Kapoor as he has three big movies lined up. The actor will be first seen Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’, starring his ex-girlfriend Deepika Padukone, followed by Abhinav Kashyap’s ‘Besharam’, which stars his parents Rishi and Neetu Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Bombay Velvet’.
