Actor Akshay Kumar will feature in Karan Johar’s upcoming production venture to be directed by Punit Malhotra of ‘I Hate Luv Storys’ fame.
Akshay Kumar will play one of the two male leads in the movie. The second male lead will be announced next week.
“I can't divulge too much now. But what I can definitely say is that the movie is mainstream and has a very strong underlying social message. It is solid and hard hitting. Punit brought me this amazing script. I immediately approached Akshay and he was equally thrilled with the idea,” said Karan Johar to PTI in a statement.
This is the first time that Akshay Kumar will be acting in a movie by Dharma Productions.
“If Dharma Productions has to collaborate with Akshay, then it has to be the right kind of film. And, as I said earlier, this one, apart from being commercial, has a strong voice,” said Karan Johar.
Akshay Kumar too is excited about this collaboration and an opportunity to work with Karan Johar.
“We are two very passionate producers with one great aim - to entertain. Both Karan and I want to make our fathers proud,” said Akshay Kumar.
Karan's mother Hiroo Johar and Akshay's wife Twinkle Khanna will co-produce the film.
This movie will go on floors early next year as Punit Malhotra is currently busy with Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer ‘Gori Tere Pyar Mein’, which will go on floors this March.
