Actress Madhuri Dixit, who was last seen in ‘Aaja Nachle’ in 2007, is making a comeback on big screen with two movies – ‘Dedh Ishqiya’ and ‘Gulab Gang’.
The actress, who hasn’t signed any movies after these two, said that she is open to any genre of films as long as they are good. But the actress confessed that she is keen on doing a comedy movie.
“I am open to anything (in films). I would love to do something that is fun... I would love to do comedy. I would like to do a lot of things. It depends on what I am offered, it depends what I like and what excites me," Madhuri told PTI in an interview.
“It is not that I have restricted myself (to certain roles and films). Right now I am busy with two films. I have Jhalak Dikhla Jaa (a dance reality show on TV) coming up and have this online dance academy,” she added.
She will first be seen in ‘Gulab Gang’ directed by Soumik Sen and produced by Anubhav Sinha.
‘Gulab Gang’ is a story based on a gang of women fighting against social injustice.
The movie also features Juhi Chawla, Mahie Gill and Shilpa Shukla among others.
“‘Gulab Gang’ is shaping up really well. I am enjoying doing it. I have a very strong role in the film,” the actress said.
The actress will soon start shooting for ‘Dedh Ishqiya’, a sequel to 2010 hit movie ‘Ishqiya’.
“For ‘Dedh Ishqiya’ we haven't started shooting yet. We will start in a couple of days. I am sure it will be fun working with Naseerji and Arshad as both are fabulous actors. It is an honor to work with him (Naseeruddin),” the actress concluded.
‘Dedh Ishqiya’ will see Arshad Warsi and Naseeruddin Shah move from Gorakhpur (where ‘Ishqiya’ was set) to Lucknow and meet a highly cultured Muslim family that includes Madhuri Dixit and Huma Qureshi. While Naseeruddin Shah will romance Madhuri, Arshad Warsi will romance Huma Qureshi.
The movie will be directed by ‘Ishqiya’ director Abhishek Chaubey and produced by Vishal Bhardwaj.
