For the past few days rumors have been rife that father-son Jodi of Rishi Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor will reprise the roles of Prithviraj Kapoor and Raj Kapoor in ‘Awaara’ remake.
But actor Ranbir Kapoor denied that he will be stepping into his grandfather’s role, while his father will step into his great grandfather’s.
Ranbir Kapoor said that they would have to bring Raj Kapoor and Nargis back from dead to create the magic that they created in the original movie.
“I live with my mom and dad but so far my dad has not told me anything about this... I even read about this for the first time in the news papers. I wouldn't like to remake Awaara because you will have to get Raj Kapoor, Nargis ji, Prithviraj Kapoor back to this world, then this film can be made again,” said Ranbir Kapoor.
The actor said that remaking a movie like ‘Awaara’ was beyond his reach.
“I don't think we have the capability to touch a film like Awaara. The film was made to the best of its capabilities and I wouldn't like to touch it,” he said.
The 1951 classic movie ‘Awaara’ starred the real father-son Jodi of Prithviraj Kapoor and Raj Kapoor as reel father and son. The movie starred Nargis as the female lead.
‘Awaara’ till date is considered as one of the best Bollywood movies ever made.
