Aspiring actor and son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, Suraj Pancholi, who has been charged with abetting the suicide of his actress girlfriend Jiah Khan, will stay in jail till June 21, when his bail application will be heard by a Mumbai court. Mr. Pancholi had been sent to jail till June 27 by the court.

Jiah Khan’s mother handed a six paged letter as a suicide note to the authorities. In this six paged letter Jiah Khan spoke about her turbulent relationship but never mentioned any name. But this letter has been taken as evidence against Suraj, who had been dating Jiah Khan for over a year.

“There is a suicide note, there is a statement of (Khan's) mother and some circumstantial evidence of triggering," said Additional Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre-Patil to news agency AFP.

In court, Mr. Pancholi's lawyer argued that the letter found after Ms Khan's death does not name his client.

Jiah Khan's mother, Rabiya Amin Khan, alleges that the six-page letter written by the young actor proves that she was driven to suicide by a messy love affair. "The letter does not have a name, so who it is addressed to is something you can only ask Jiah. But because of the incidents in the past and what she told me, all of these things point out to Suraj Pancholi," she said

Jiah Khan, whose real name is Nafisa Khan, was brought up in London. The actress recently moved to Mumbai to pursue her career in Bollywood.

The actress made her debut opposite Amitabh Bachchan in a controversial movie ‘Nishabd’ in March 2007. Jiah Khan played the role of a young girl who falls in love with her best friend’s father. Though the movie got mixed reviews for its bold content, actress Jiah Khan’s confident performance was praised. The actress even earned a nomination for Filmfare Best Debut award.

Later the actress starred in the movie ‘Ghajini’ with Aamir Khan and Asin. The actress was last seen in Sajid Khan’s ‘Housefull’ in 2010.
