Legendary actor Pran passes away at 93

Veteran Bollywood actor Pran passed away last night in Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital. The actor was 93.

The daughter of the legendary actor said to PTI that her father passed away after “a spell of prolonged illness”.

“He was not keeping well, he was very weak. His health was deteriorating,” she added.

The last rites of the actor were held today afternoon at Shivaji Park crematorium.

Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha Karan Johar, Gulzar, Danny Denzongpa, Raza Murad, Shakti Kapoor, Tinu Anand and Anupam Kher were present at the venue.

Legendary actor Pran, whose full name is Pran Krishan Sikand, has appeared in over 400 films between 1940s and 1990s. Though the actor played both positive and negative roles, he was famous for his negative roles in movies like ‘Zanjeer’, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Don’, ‘Karz’ etc.

Pran's other famous films include’ Madhumati’, ‘Half Ticket’, ‘Upkar’, ‘Kashmir Ki Kali’, ‘Naseeb’, `Khandaan`, `Purab Aur Paschim`, `Milan`, `Aurat`, `Bari Behen`, `Jis Desh Men Ganga Behti Hai`, and ‘Shahenshah’. He last appeared on-screen in 1997's ‘Mrityudaata’.

He is survived by his wife Shukla, daughter Pinky, and sons Arvind and Sunil.
