Rajesh Khanna's statue to be unveiled on his death anniversary

A bronze statue of legendary actor Rajesh Khanna, who is considered as ‘Bollywood’s first Superstar’, will be unveiled in Mumbai on Rajesh Khanna’s death anniversary.

Channel UTV Stars on Wednesday announced that the statue will be unveiled at the Walk of the Stars at Bandra Bandstand Promenade Mumbai.

“UTV Stars will commemorate Rajesh Khanna's inimitable style and charismatic smile in a life-size brass statue. The brass statue will immortalize one of his iconic poses from his films and will be unveiled by the actor's family amongst well-known names from the industry," read a statement from the channel.

The installation of the statue, will, however, take place early next month.

The bronze statue of the veteran actor will be placed along with other Bollywood legends like Yash Chopra, Dev Anand, Shammi Kapoor and Raj Kapoor.

Rajesh Khanna made his debut with ‘Aakhri Khat’ in 1966. He is the only actor in Indian Cinema to deliver 15 consecutive solo hits. His movies like ‘Anand’, ‘Aradhana’, ‘Kati Patang’, ‘Safar’, ‘Amar Prem’, ‘Bawaarchi’, ‘Namak Haram’, and ‘Mere Jeevan Saathi’ are considered to be among few of best Bollywood movies ever made.

Rajesh Khanna passed away on July 18, 2012. He was 69.
