Delhi exempts 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' from entertainment tax

Following in the footsteps of Maharashtra government, Delhi government too has exempted entertainment tax on Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’.

The decision was taken by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit after watching the moving on Tuesday evening.

“Dikshit was visibly moved by the film. She took a call on the tax exemption without hesitation," said a source to IANS.

Filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is overjoyed with the Delhi government’s decision.

“What can I say? First Maharashtra, then Madhya Pradesh and now Delhi has granted 'Milkha...' a tax exemption. I am humbled by the unanimous acceptance of the spirit of Milkha,” said the filmmaker.

‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ is a biopic based on the life of legendary athlete Milkha Singh. Farhan Akhtar essays the role of Milkha Singh in the movie.

The movie also stars Sonam Kapoor as the female lead. Prakash Raj and Divya Dutt play crucial roles in the movie.

The movie that released on July 12 has been going strong at the box-office and has already raked in Rs.30 crore by the weekend. The movie managed an impressive Rs.8.5 crore business on its opening day itself.
