
Veteran actor Manoj Kumar underwent gall bladder surgery on Wednesday (July 24, 2013), which also happened to be his 76th birthday. The surgery was declared successful.
“The surgery went for an hour and it went off well. He is back in the room," said Ram Narain, executive director at the hospital.
The actor complained of pain and was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on July 17.
Manoj Kumar is known for acting and directing films with patriotic themes. He is fondly referred to as 'Bharat Kumar'.
The actor's memorable performances include films like 'Purab aur Paschim', 'Roti Kapda Aur Makaan', 'Shor', 'Woh Kaun Thi', 'Kranti', 'Do Badan' and others.
In 1992, he was honored with the 'Padmashri'.
