If the sources are to be believed then Farah Khan has finally zeroed in on a leading lady for her film ‘Happy New Year’.

According to sources, Katrina Kaif has beaten the trio of Ankita Lokhande, Jennifer Winget and Simran Kaur Mundi to star opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the movie.

The makers initially wanted to cast Katrina Kaif but due to actress being busy with the shooting of the movie ‘Bang Bang’ the makers looked the other way. But due to Hrithik Roshan’s brain surgery and delay in ‘Bang Bang’s’ shooting Katrina Kaif's calendar has opened up.

“The casting director of the film had already finalized the other three ladies. But with Hrithik going for his sudden brain surgery, the equations changed and Kat came on board. She is completely free for the next three months,” said a source to Mid-Day.

Apparently Shah Rukh Khan too wasn’t comfortable with a new girl opposite him and wanted an established actress.

“The film is going on the floors from September 5 onwards and since they want around 40 days from Katrina, she can easily shoot the film through September and October,” the source said.

The initial talks for the movie have already begun and Katrina Kaif has agreed to sign on the dotted line once she returns from her holiday in Sri Lanka with her alleged beau Ranbir Kapoor.

Both Farah and Kat remained unavailable for comment.
