Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala, who battled ovarian cancer successfully, visited Chennai and met cancer patients on India’s Independence Day.

“Off to Chennai to the Sri Ramachandra University to meet 100 survivors and 1,000 others whose lives have been touched with cancer. Freedom from cancer... and then off to my favorite Oneness University. Looking forward,” posted Manisha Koirala on her Facebook page on Tuesday.

Manisha Koirala was diagnosed with cancer last year. The actress spent 6 months in New Year undergoing chemotherapy and a surgery. After 6 months of treatment the actress was declared cancer free.

Manisha Koirala then returned home to India and has been since trying to inspire cancer patients to battle the disease.

“All I want to do from now onwards is to be useful to people who could need [a] little advice,” said the actress in May.
