
The eagerly anticipated 3D version of Bollywood blockbuster movie ‘Sholay’ might release on Amitabh Bachchan's 71st birthday October 11.
“The date was specifically chosen as it coincides with Bachchan's big day. He is the biggest star we have today and what better day to release the film," said a source in a statement.
‘Sholay’ that released on Independence Day August 15 1975 opened up to lackluster reviews and empty houses. But by the third week the business picked up due to word of mouth and the movie became on overnight sensation and one of the most iconic movies of Indian Cinema.
The movie that stars Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar, Hema Malini and Jaya Bachchan lauded as one of the best Bollywood movies ever made.
The movie is appreciated for its story, dialogues, acting and directing. The bond of friendship between characters Jai and Veeru is considered as the best onscreen friendship of all time.
‘Sholay’ was directed by Ramesh Sippy and produced by G.P. Sippy.
The 3D rendition of the movie will be produced by Jayantilal Gada.
