Mumbai Police are in search for veteran actor Om Puri, who has gone missing after his second wife filed an assault case on him.
Nandita, second wife of the actor, in her report alleged that her husband hit her with a rod after an argument over maintenance of their flat in Seven Bungalows in Andheri (west) on Thursday night.
The case was filed at Versova police station in Mumbai.
Police have booked the 62-year-old actor under IPC sections 324 (causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
The couple, who have been going through a rough patch since his first wife, Seema Kapoor, rekindled ties with him, are yet to separate legally. Earlier, the actor had moved out of the Versova flat and started living with Kapoor in Oshiwara. Nandita had filed a case against Puri in family court, under the Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act in a family court, demanding maintenance from him.
According to police, Puri has been missing since the incident. Harishchandra Parmale, senior police inspector of Versova police station told that a police team had gone to arrest Puri but he was not at his home. Now the police are trying to trace him through his cellphone.
