Looks like veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha might come together on big-screen after 32 long years in Anees Bazmee's upcoming comedy film ‘Welcome Back’.
According to reports, producer Feroz Nadiadwala and director Anees Bazmee are currently in talks with the legendary actors regarding their roles in the movie.
Amitabh Bachchan has been approached to play the role of don RDX, previously played by late Feroz Khan in the first part. Rekha has been offered to play the role of a wealthy fashionista.
“We are considering Rekhaji for a role which will have love angle between Nana and Anil. But it is too early to talk about all this as nothing is decided and confirmed. As there are three-four veteran actresses that we are thinking of it all depends if they like it or not, their dates and money issues,” said Anees Bazmee.
Anees Bazmee said that he hasn’t yet approached Rekha with the script.
“I am a huge fan of Rekhaji. I wanted to work with her. I feel since it's a comedy film, Rekhaji will do justice to her part as she has a superb comic timing," he said.
Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha were first seen together in ‘Do Anjaane’ in 1976. With the first movie itself they became one of Bollywood’s favorite couple and went on to feature in movies like ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikander’ (1978), ‘Mr Natwarlal’ (1979), ‘Suhaag’ (1979), ‘Silsila’ (1981) to name a few.
The couple later took a conscious decision to not act together thanks to gossip about their off-screen romance.
‘Welcome Back’ is a sequel to 2007 hit movie ‘Welcome’.
The movie will be Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor will be reprising their roles from the original.
Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif have been replaced by John Abraham and Shruti Hassan in the sequel.
The movie will go on floors in a month.
