Actress Priyanka Chopra’s ‘Zanjeer’ remake might have tanked at the box-office but her cousin Parineeti Chopra’s ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ is going strong ago.
‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ directed by Maneesh Sharma and produced under Yash Raj Films banner has collected over Rs. 39.82 Crores within nine days from its release.
Actress Parineeti Chopra is ecstatic with the response the movie has received and she said that the movie would become a hit ever since she read the script.
“When I read the script I was sure that this is going to be a very entertaining film. I was happy that Maneesh and Adi (Aditya Chopra from YRF) offered me this film because after ‘Ishaqzaade’ I wanted to do something different and ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ clicked,” said Parineeti Chopra to IANS.
Along with Parineeti Chopra the movie stars one film old Sushant Singh Rajput and debutant Vaani Kapoor as main leads. Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor plays a crucial role in the movie. Performances of all the three main leads have received praises from critics and audience alike.
“It has released and people are liking it, the reviews are good and all the performances and Jaideep (Sahni, scriptwriter) and Maneesh's work is being appreciated. When there are a lot of messages and missed calls on your phone, you like it. So, I am very happy,” said Parineeti Chopra.
Though the movie has received high praises from the audience, the critical response to the movie was mixed. While few critics raved about the freshness of the movie and the acting, others felt that the movie was flat and offered nothing new.
But Parineeti Chopra isn’t fazed by the mixed response her movie has received.
“Reviews are always mixed; you never have unanimous reviews of any film. Every critic is a different person and their sensibilities and tastes are different,” Parineeti Chopra concluded.
