Actor Govinda has been approached to play Ranbir Kapoor’s dad in Anurag Basu’s upcoming movie ‘Jagga Jasoos’.

According to sources Govinda has already given his approval to the movie when Anurag Basu approached him with the role.

“The two had a long meeting last week. Anurag explained the character to Chi Chi (as Govinda is fondly called) in detail. Chi Chi loved the subject and has consented to do the project in principle," a leading daily quoted its source.

The source also said that Ranbir Kapoor will be playing a 17 year old in the movie.

‘Jagga Jasoos’ will be directed by Anurag Basu, who previously worked with Ranbir Kapoor in hit movie ‘Barfi!’. The movie will launch the production house jointly owned by Anurag Basu and Ranbir Kapoor.

Ranbir Kapoor will be playing a detective for the first time in the movie.

The movie stars Ranbir Kapoor’s alleged girlfriend Katrina Kaif as the female lead in the movie.

The movie is said to go on floors early next year.
