Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s previous movie ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, a biopic on the life of former athlete Milkha Singh, became one of the biggest hits this year and earned not only great commercial success but also tremendous critical acclaim.
Actress Sonam Kapoor, who played the female lead in the movie, is glad that the movie is inspiring many filmmakers to make quality cinema.
“A film like ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, doing well is a great way to inspire other filmmakers to make quality cinema. It is a great way forward. It has set an example and it’s brilliant. It makes me happy," said Sonam Kapoor to PTI.
Farhan Akhtar, who essayed the role of Milkha Singh, has received many accolades for his performance in the movie. Actress Sonam Kapoor said that she is fine with Farhan Akhtar running away with all the appreciation and praise.
“I don't want to take credit. I don't think any one person be it actor or director or producer should get a credit alone, filmmaking is a team effort. If we talk about ‘The Dirty Picture’ then the heroine and director can take credit for it as it is woman centric film," Sonam said.
“In case of ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ Farhan played Milkha and it is because of him that people got drawn to theatres. Everybody has their own market," she added.
Farhan Akhtar, who played Milkha Sigh beautifully, said that he would like to work in another biopic.
“I don't know who I would like to portray. All these things cannot be planned. Like I was moved by the story of Milkhaji. I felt a film should be made on him. I don't want to think about all this," he concluded.
