Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who is out on a month long parole from Pune's Yerawada Jail, has been granted a month’s extension on his parole.
The actor was scheduled to return to jail on January 21 but he applied for extension in his parole citing wife Maanyata's ill-health.
Sanjay Dutt’s wife, Maanyata, has been reportedly has been diagnosed with a tumor in the liver and a suspected heart ailment, was admitted to Global hospital in Mumbai last week.
Earlier Dr Ajay Chaughule, a senior heart and cardio thoracic surgeon and heart and lung transplant surgeon at Global Hospital, had said that she needs to undergo some tests, after which it can be decided whether a surgery is required.
“We are doing complete investigation for everything for some problems she has....There are lots of tests that she will have to undergo," Dr Chaughule told PTI.
Sanjay Dutt, who is currently serving his 5 year sentence for his involvement in 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts, was earlier granted a two week on medical grounds on October 1 and an extension of another two weeks on October 14. He returned to jail on October 30.
Last year Sanjay Dutt was convicted for possession of illegal arms during 1993 Mumbai blasts. The actor was handed out a sentence of 60 weeks. As the actor had already served 18weeks before, he is currently the rest 42 weeks.
