Actress Kareena Kapoor has been signed to play the female lead opposite Ajay Devgn in upcoming action drama movie ‘Singham 2’.
According to reports, director Rohit Shetty had initially offered Kareena Kapoor the female lead in the movie. But later felt that the role was too small for an A-list actress like Kareena Kapoor. So, he decided to look the other way and considered TV actress Drashti Dhami for the role.
But now the director has decided to go with his initial choice and cast Kareena Kapoor as the female lead. To suit Kareena Kapoor’s status the role has been rewritten and better fleshed out.
The actress too recently revealed that she is quite excited to play the role of a Maharashtrian girl (in ‘Singham 2’) for the first time.
Prakash Raj, who played the villain in the original, has been replaced by director turned actor Amole Gupte, who was previously seen in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Kaminey’ starring Shahid Kapoor.
‘Singham 2’ is a sequel to 2011 blockbuster hit movie ‘Singham’.
The movie will be co-produced by Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn.
