The director Karan revealed the first look of his much awaited movie ‘Agneepath’.
‘Agneepath’ is the re-make of an old movie of same name. The character Vijay which was made legendary by Amitabh Bachchan will be portrayed by Hrithik Roshan in the new version. Sanjay Dutt plays a negative role in the film.
Karan Johar has said that the remake will be different from the original. He also tweeted the release date of the movie.
“AGNEEPATH releases on January 13th, 2012...”
The date incidentally falls 3 days after Hritik’s birthday. When asked about this co-incident the director said, “When I postponed the film, the thought didn't strike me. I guess it is a happy coincidence that Agneepath will release a couple of days after his birthday."
"I decided to postpone the film because we were fighting timelines. I didn't wish to stress Karan Malhotra, the director remaking this cult classic. We have been having very grueling schedules. I didn't want to spoil anything for Karan and his crew by asking them to hurry through it. I have seen parts of the film, and what I saw blew my mind. That's the reason why I want to nurture it and give it the dream release it deserves. I believe anything done in haste ends up a waste. Agneepath is very special for us”, said Karan Johar talking about postponing the movie release.
2012 will be a very busy year for Dharma productions as they have 5 other movies planned besides ‘Agneepath’.
"2012 will be our biggest year yet. I intend to release the untitled Kareena Kapoor-Imran Khan film. Then there's Student Of The Year, which I am directing. We also have Ayan Mukerji's film with Ranbir Kapoor, and Punit Malhotra's next release after I Hate Luv Storys”, Karan Johar confirms.
The buzz is that Punit Malhotra is very keen on having the hero of his first movie Imran Khan back. When asked, Karan Johar replied, “"Watch this space, you'll know soon enough."
