The legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan will be making his Hollywood debut with the movie version of the classic book ‘The Great Gatsby’.
The veteran actor will be playing the role of the Jewish gambler Meyer Wolfsheim. Even though the character is one of the side characters, its one of the crucial role.
The director Baz Luhrmann will be directing the movie version of this classic. In fact, the shooting of the movie has already begun in Australiaon 5th September.
Baz Luhrmann said that he is "personally thrilled that one of the world's greatest screen legends, Amitabh Bachchan, is joining the cast".
"Over the years, Amitabh's films have made a tremendous impression on my life and work. His film Sholay was my introduction to Indian cinema," added the director.
Luhrmann’s love for Bollywood is well known and he had also used Bollywood songs in his most acclaimed movie ‘Moulin Rogue’.
The movie stars few of the biggest names inHollywood.
Leonardo Di Caprio will be the playing the role of Gatsby, Toby Maguire plays Nick Carraway, Carey Mulligab and Joel Edgerton play Daisy and Tom Buchannan, Elizabeth Debicki as Jordan Baker and the also features Isla Fisher as Myrtle Wilson.
The movie is likely to release in late 2012.
