Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya has filed a case against the makers of ‘Housefull 2’ movie for allegedly lifting a tune from his album ‘Tere Bina’ in the song ‘Do You Know’.

Abhijeet has filed a case at Bombay High Court against T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar, music composers Sajid-Wajid and producer Sajid Nadiadwala.

Abhijeet claimed that the song ‘Do You Know’ in the movie ‘Housefull 2’ has the same tune to the song ’Baje Jo Bansi’ from his album ‘Tere Bina’, which was released over a decade ago.

“I have no problems with the number but they have blatantly lifted the main punch line of the music piece from my song, Baje Jo Bansi. Whoever listens to the song can make out the plagiarism since my album is T-Series’ highest-selling album. It took me a year to compose that particular punch line,” he said to a daily.

The music director Sajid, who has composed the tune along with Wajid, is offended by Abhijeet’s move.

“We are in a shocked state. Ye to hamare upar daag lagana hua (it’s akin to tainting us). We belong to the same fraternity and if he had any issues, we could have resolved it peacefully. What’s the need to go to the court? If we had to copy, wouldn’t we have copied an international tune?” he said.

Even the producer Sajid Nadiadwala is surprised given that he had worked with Abhijeet many times before.

“If he had any issues with the song, he should have informed me. I would have made him sit with Sajid-Wajid to resolve the issue amicably,” the producer said.

But Abhijeet is adamant that what he took the right decision by going to court.

“I am blessed with name, fame and wealth, so my intentions are not directed towards fame or money,” he concluded.
