It was recently reported that Priyanka Chopra was signed to play the leading lady of 1973 hit movie ‘Zanjeer’, opposite Ram Charan Teja.

But the director of the movie Apoorva Lakhia has denied the news.

“Priyanka Chopra is not yet confirmed. We have not yet decided on that. However, we are starting the film’s shooting from May 13. The scenes of the lead actor will be shot,” said the director.

Southern star Ram Charan Teja, who is making a Bollywood debut with this movie, will be stepping into the big shoes of Amitabh Bachchan.

Recently, it was rumored that Amitabh Bachchan, who played the lead in original ‘Zanjeer’, would be playing a cameo in the movie.

The director said that he hasn’t approached Amitabh Bachchan yet and will be doing that soon.

“I have not approached Mr. Bachchan yet. But I will soon approach him. It would be great if he could show his presence in the film,” he said.

It was revealed that the director had first approached Amitabh Bachchan and taken his permission to make the remake. He felt it was his ‘duty’ to do so.

“I would approach him for all obvious reasons. Who does not want to cast Mr. Bachchan in their film,” he said.

The movie is produced by Amit Mehra, son of Prakash Mehra, who produced and directed the original.
