The remake of the movie ‘Zanjeer’ has been surrounded by many controversies ever since its inception. The biggest road block came when the writers of original ‘Zanjeer’, Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, made their displeasure about the remake public.

The remake is being produced by Amit Mehra, son of Prakash Mehra, who directed and produced the original movie.

Amit Mehra recently revealed that he had approached Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar and both have finally given their nod for the remake.

“We have bought the rights of Zanjeer from my father, Prakash Mehra's, production company. I have met both (Khan and Akhtar) of them to take their blessings. They are special people,” said Amit Mehra to PTI.

“This is my first film and I wanted to make Zanjeer, as it was a super hit... Also, I am emotionally connected to it,” he added.

It was rumored that veteran writers Javed Akhtar and Salim Khan, who had co-written the screenplay and dialogues for the original, had asked for a hefty sum of money if the filmmakers wanted to re-interpret their original script on celluloid.

But Amit Mehra denies any such things.

“I don’t know all this. I am meeting them again, and hopefully, everything will be fine. But the remake will be made. I did not ask them for anything. Salim uncle gave me his blessings,” he said.

The action thriller will mark the debut of Telugu hero Ram Charan Teja. The movie also stars Priyanka Chopra, who was apparently paid 9 crores for the movie, Prakash Raj, Arjun Rampal and Mahie Gill.

The movie is directed by Apoorva Lakhia.
