‘Khiladi’ of Bollywood Akshay Kumar is making a comeback into action genre with the movie ‘Rowdy Rathore’.
Akshay Kumar made his debut in Bollywood with an action movie and went on to star in many action films, which earned him the title of ‘Khiladi’. But the actor said that his movie ‘Rowdy Rathore’ was very different from his other action movies.
“(Director) Prabhu Deva has his own way of choreographing action sequences. His action sequences have a rhythm. It is a very raw kind of action, which I haven't done since ages,” he said to a daily.
The actor also said that ‘Rowdy Rathore’ was a perfect comeback for him into his forte of action films.
“I don't think I could have got a better comeback. It is a raw action film directed by one of the best action directors, Prabhu Deva. I did action for nearly 14 to 15 years, so I wanted a break. I know it was a long break, but I don't think it is late for me to come back to action films. Now I have three to four action films lined up back to back,” he said to another daily Rediff.
The actor said that he wasn’t making an action film just because it is an ongoing trend in Bollywood.
“No, it had nothing to do with the trend. It has been a long time since I did action and I thought I could be a part of this film. I am very excited about Rowdy Rathore. I am in the film industry because of my action films. I feel like a newcomer, who is trying action for the first time,” he said.
In the movie Akshay Kumar can be seen in two different avatars. In his rowdy avatar Akshay Kumar sports a moustache and wears colorful and bright clothes and also check shirts over t-shirts.
When asked about the inspiration behind his look he said, “There is no inspiration as such; there is a rowdiness in everyone. I have just been what I am in real life.”
Another trend in Bollywood is making sequels. Sometimes the sequel is announced even before the release of the movie.
Does Akshay Kumar have any plans on ‘Rowdy Rathore 2’?
“I am not the producer of the film but if the producer plans to make it and we get the right script, we would love to make it,” he concluded.
‘Rowdy Rathore’ directed by Prabhu Deva and starring Sonakshi Sinha will release this Friday on June 1.
