Actor Aamir Khan and his ‘Satyamev Jayate’ team are currently in a meeting with the parliamentary panel to discuss the medical issues raised by him in his show ‘Satyamev Jayate’.

The actor and his team were invited by Rajya Sabha MP Shanta Kumar of the Bharatiya Janata Party, who heads the parliamentary standing committee on commerce, to share the knowledge gained while researching for the episode.

Aamir Khan in an episode aired on May 27, brought to the light various malpractices followed in the medical fraternity. Aamir Khan showed guests on his show, who could have been cured by simple medical procedures but were subjected to complex surgery just so to extract money from them. He also discussed the over pricing of life saving drugs.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) accused Aamir Khan of defaming medial profession and demanded a public apology from the actor. But the actor refused to apologize saying that he dint do anything wrong and in fact the medical association should support him and take strict actions against unethical doctors. He stated that he had high respect for medical profession and there were a few from the profession who did support him in his endeavor.

Aamir Khan, who has made his television debut with ‘Satyamev Jayate’, has managed to touch a cord with people and has brought many social issues like female infanticide, dowry system, sexual abuse and medical malpractices to light.

The actor's endeavors might be successful as the Rajasthan Government has promised to move the pending female feticide cases, discussed in the show, to fast track court and parliament has only now passed a bill on stringent action against those guilty of child sex abuse.
