Actress Sonakshi Sinha spent last weekend shooting for her item number in Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG Oh My God’ movie. The actress will feature in the song along with ace choreographer Prabhu Deva, who has choreographed this song.

But the actress refuses to acknowledge that the song is an ‘item number’.

“Every song is also being called an item number irrespective of what it is, but this is a special Gokulashtami song. Having Prabhu Deva in the same frame as me was the biggest catch; plus Akshay asked me to do it. He made me hear it and I immediately started dancing to it, so I knew it was a good one... I've been approached before for similar appearances and I've not done it because it has to be something which really clicks with me. I wouldn't do it just for the heck of it,” she said to a daily in an interview.

Actress Sonakshi Sinha has a reputation of being a family girl who won’t compromise on certain principles. But the actress said that it wasn’t difficult to be an actor and have certain principles.

“Contrary to belief, it's not difficult to be a desi girl. I don't have any dearth of films which are coming my way. And the work I'm doing doesn't require me to do any of that. I have certain principles which I'm going by, and none of my producers or directors have any complaints. Dabangg opened up a lot of avenues for me. People ask me about my desi avatar and if it's risky. And I always ask them if they know of any newcomer who has signed six films after their debut,” she said.

“But I'm not that rigid. I'm not walking around in a burqa. I'm doing what I am required to do,” she added.

Even though Sonakshi Sinha is plagued with rumors of her dating her ‘Lootera’ co-star Ranveer Singh, the actress says that she is still single.

“I wish I had the time for love. I have been working around the clock and my goals are very different right now. But most importantly, I am happy. I like coming on the sets every day, meeting new people, dancing, singing... Basically just going things I enjoy. When love has to happen, it will,” she said.

“I don't believe in casual dating. When I find the one, I'll see how I balance my personal and professional commitments. Right now, there's no time for it,” she added.

When asked if her parents were affected by the rumors the actress said that her parents were in the industry long enough to understand rumors are just that… rumors.

“My parents have been here too long to know what's true and what isn't. They know me well enough to understand that I'd never hide such things from them. And anyway, if an actress is single, she has to be linked up. So, it's fine by me and its fine by them. They know the truth,” she concluded.
